There is a specific process needed to use a local account to log into a computer attached to a domain (active directory) in Windows. If the process is not followed, the domain computer will likely reject the user name and password when entered.

Preparation

  • The computer must be attached to a Windows domain.
  • You must have the login credentials for a local users account on that computer.

Instructions

  1. At the login screen enter .\[local user account name]
  2. Enter the password for that user account.
