Summary

This Error Message Article explains the BACKTRACK error message “Index was outside the bounds of the array” that occurs when printing reports and details how to fix the underlying problem that caused it to appear.

Explanation

The user received the error message when trying to print a report. The report had previously worked correctly.

Backtrack error message window.

The error message typically means that the application (i.e. BACKTRACK) is trying to access data that does not exist. In this case we found that Windows lost the default printer that the user had previously selected.

When BACKTRACK prints a report, it will print to the default printer unless the user indicates otherwise. Therefore, if the user’s computer somehow loses this setting, the user will see this error when they try to print.

Solution

Reassign a default printer to the PC running the report.
