“Warning Message #2402 – Although BarTender cannot connect to Seagull License Server, your BarTender will continue to function normally for another 3 day(s)” – BarTender Error Message

Summary

This article explains the BarTender error message “Warning Message #2402 – Although BarTender cannot connect to Seagull License Server, your BarTender will continue to function normally for another 3 day(s),” and details how to fix the underlying problem that caused it to appear.

Explanation

If the local instance of BarTender is configured to check a license server for license validation, it will enter a three day grace period if it fails to connect. This message indicates that the three day grace period has started. As soon as the software is able to reconnect, the message will no longer appear unless the software is disconnected again. If so, the three day grace period starts over again.

Solution

The local instance of BarTender needs to validate the license by connecting the the license server.  BarTender needs to be run, on that computer, where it can connect to the BarTender license server.

If the license server is on the same computer, you need to investigate why the license server is not running.  If the license server is running somewhere on the network, you need to make sure it is functioning and the PC has access to it.  Access to it can be blocked for several reasons.  Contact your EBI Technical Support Coach for help.
