This Error Message Article explains the BarTender error message “The print request failed or was canceled. You have exceeded your maximum number of X licensed printers…” and details how to fix the underlying problem that caused it to appear.
BarTender allows the user to print to more than the licensed number of printers temporarily. However, after a certain number of printers and/or a certain number of days, it will no longer allow printing to additional printers and will start ‘denying’ print requests.
To avoid the error message, either:
- Add more printer licenses
- Use the “Keep” feature to identify printers that are ‘officially licensed’ (see image attached below in notes)
- Use shared printer instead of individual printer at each workstations to print. BarTender will see the shared printer as one printer. This will minimize the number of temporary printers created.
