MCL NET Service Fails to Start After Upgrading License – MCL Problem

Summary

This article explains the MCL problem that causes MCL NET service to stop working after an upgrade.

Symptoms

MCL NET service fails to start after performing and upgrade to add more user licenses.

Explanation

The cause of this problem is unknown. Our theory is that MCL NET finished the upgrade using the upgrade wizard but does not actually apply the license properly.

An additional problem (KBA-01705-G1B3F2: The MCL NET v3 Software’s User Interface Does Not Start After Proper Execution of Software) may occur where the user is unable to access the application’s user interface.

Refer to below instruction article (KBA-01707-G3Z7K8: Modifying the MCLNet.ini Configuration File to Allow the Software to Run in Viewer Mode) for possible resolution: Modification of the MCLNet.ini file is required to access MCL NET v3’s user interface to modify the license(s).
