This article explains the BarTender error message “Librarian…Permission Denied…BarTender Security Center settings do not allow the specified user to perform this action” and details how to fix the underlying problem that caused it to appear.
BarTender security operates by utilizing Windows user groups in Active Directory to control permissions. When the user logs into Windows to run BarTender, the permissions allowed that user depend on the:
- Windows user group associated with the user’s login(s)
- Permissions given to that user group in BarTender Security
The user logged into Windows at the time of this error message not have permissions to do the requested function in Librarian.
Note: This solution is for BarTender 10 or earlier.
If the user is to have this access, BarTender Security Center needs to be updated. In Security Center, adequate permissions need to be assigned to the correct user groups. If the user has the correct permissions and the task they are doing is within the proper scope of those permissions, they should no longer receive this error message.
