This article explains the BACKTRACK error message “Failed to get license information. No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it…” and details how to fix the underlying problem that caused it to appear.
A client workstation for BACKTRACK could not connect to the “TEKLYNX License Service” license server on the BACKTRACK server computer. There are several possible reasons including:
- License server is down
- Port that License Server uses to connect is blocked (default port #41000)
First, check to make sure license server is running. You should be able to run BACKTRACK on the server. If not, there is a problem with the license server.
If you can run BACKTRACK on the server, it is likely something is blocking the workstation from connecting to the License Server. Firewall is a common culprit.
