Summary
When performing an installation of older software from TEKLYNX on a Windows 10 computer, the computer crashes. This exception error causes the computer to display the blue screen (commonly called the blue screen of death or BSoD). Alternatively, the PC will simply restart.
NOTE: This problem – and solution – applies to LABEL MATRIX, LABELVIEW, CODESOFT and BACKTRACK.

When reviewing Windows System Event log, you may see Event 1001 with BugCheck as source.

Situation and Symptoms
The Blue Screen occurs during the installation of TEKLYNX BACKTRACK 2015, CODESOFT 2014
Explanation
Updated 9/2/20:
Teklynx confirmed the problem. It is caused by HASP driver that is packaged with the software. Installing the updated HASP driver before installing the software resolves the problem.
At present, the only explanation that we have been able to find is that the installation program was having issues with Windows 10 version 2004 and 20H2.
To determine the version of Windows running on your computer:
- Select Command Prompt in the Windows Run Menu.

- Type Winver at the command line.

- A window will open, showing the version of Windows 10 currently running on the computer.

Solution
We have had successful installs of BACKTRACK onto machines running Windows 10 versions 1803 and 1902.
As mentioned above, Teklynx has confirmed the problem. “It is caused by HASP driver that is packaged with the software. Installing the updated HASP driver before installing the software resolves the problem.” Please click here to download the updated HASP driver.
