This Error Message Article explains the BarTender error message “BarTender: Error Message #1402 – BarTender cannot locate the Seagull License Server on the network. BarTender will not print or export printer code templates until this is corrected.” and details how to fix the underlying problem that caused it to appear.
A client instance of BarTender cannot connect to a license server for which it is configured. This error message typically occurs when:
- A new instance of BarTender has been installed on a new machine but was unable to automatically connect to the existing License Server after activation (for Enterprise Automation licenses)
- An existing BarTender client installation that has been activated and connected to the License Server in the past has lost connection to the license server. BarTender typically allows the user up to three days to reestablish the server connection.
The BarTender client running as Enterprise Automation needs to connect to the network that is hosting the BarTender license server. If it gets a connection to a valid license server, it will display a “BarTender has successfully connected to Seagull License Server” message. If it gets disconnected again in the future, BarTender will give the user a 3 day grace period before running in demo/disabled mode.
