Active SENTINELs Deactivate and will not Restart – SENTINEL Problem

Summary

This article explains how to resolve the SENTINEL problem of deactivation due to label changes while the SENTINEL is active.

Symptoms

SENTINEL will deactivate ALL SENTINEL jobs if someone attempts to alter a label that is attached to an active SENTINEL.

Explanation

If you need to make a change in a label file that is currently is use by an Active SENTINEL you must first turn off the SENTINEL.  Failure to do so will result in forced deactivation of all SENTINEL job requiring a reset of the SENTINEL service.

Solution

Turn off the SENTINEL before making a change to the label file.

Issue Found: Windows 2008 R2, running SENTINEL 10 and CODESOFT 10.
